Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered his defence officers to put Russia’s nukes “deterrence troops” on alert Sunday, and claimed that of the West to be taking “unfriendly” measures towards his country.
Tensions across the globe are in the ascendancy due to Russia’s incursion into Ukraine and Putin’s latest order is likely to cause even more anxiety.
Moscow is the largest in the world. arsenal of nuclear weaponry, as well as huge quantities of ballistic missiles that form the core of Russia’s defense forces.

“I recommend to the defense minister and the head of general of Russian military to transform the deterrence units that are part of the Russian army into a specific regimen of combat service” Putin said.
“You can see that Western countries aren’t just hostile to our country in the sphere of economics — I’m talking about illegal sanctioning,” he added, in a broadcast speech.
“Senior officials from the most powerful NATO countries are also allowed to make the use of adversity against Our country.”
Defence Minister Shoigu responded: “Affirmative.”
The Russian president has on Thursday announced the invasion of Ukraine sending shockwaves across the globe.
Russian forces on the ground have advanced to Ukraine from the east, north and south, but they have encountered massive resisting against Ukrainian forces, and the force of which is likely to have shocked Moscow as per Western sources.
