Prakash Padukone

This ace badminton player, born in Udupi and based in Bangalore, was the first Indian to win the All England Open Badminton Championships in 1980. Furthermore, he was ranked World No. 1 the same year! He allegedly played in his first official tournament when he was seven years old, in 1962. He currently runs the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy and the Olympic Gold Quest after coaching the national badminton team from 1993 to 1996. (promoting Olympic sports in the country).
