Jawaharlal Nehru

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of independent India, was born into a Kashmiri Pandit family in Allahabad, North-Western Provinces, British India (now Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh). He was a pioneer in the Indian independence movement. He served as Prime Minister for 17 years until his death in 1964. During his presidency, he focused on promoting science and technology, parliamentary democracy, and secularism, all of which helped shape the India of today. Every year on November 14th, his birthday is observed as Children’s Day. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1955.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee
